The problem
What the desert leaves in your cabin
Sand in the seams
Desert sand settles in seams and under the seats, then grinds into the carpet fibres.
Spills in the heat
Milk and sugary drinks spilled in a hot cabin spoil quickly and leave a sour smell.
A musty AC
Mould and bacteria inside the AC system can make the vents smell stale and sour.
Strong sun
Sunlight through the windscreen fades the dashboard and dries out leather, which eventually cracks.
Why it matters
A quick vacuum misses the rest
Left as it is
- Trapped sand keeps wearing down carpet fibres whenever passengers climb in and out.
- Old stains can change the colour of the fabric itself, so they may only fade.
- Air fresheners only disguise an odour while its source remains in the upholstery and carpet.
Deep cleaned now
- Sand comes out of the seams and seat rails, so it stops wearing down the carpet.
- A fresh stain treated early usually lifts out of the fabric without leaving a mark.
- Enzyme cleaners break up the residue behind a smell, instead of covering it with scent.

How it works
How is a car interior cleaned at our Mussafah centre?

Step 1: Empty and inspect the cabin
Personal items usually come out first, and every stain, smell and worn area is noted.

Step 2: Remove the dry dirt first
Compressed air normally clears sand from seams and vents, then the whole cabin is vacuumed.

Step 3: Deep clean each material
Fabric is usually extracted, leather cleaned and conditioned, and hard surfaces wiped or steamed.

Step 4: Dry, protect and check
Strong airflow normally dries the cabin, and fabric usually needs a few hours before handover.

Know before you book
What should you know before booking interior detailing?
What does a car deep cleaning include?
A car deep cleaning removes the dirt, sand, stains and smells that a quick vacuum leaves behind. It covers the roof fabric, seats, carpets, door panels, dashboard and boot, using the right method for each material.
What you cannot see matters too. A small UK university study swabbed used cars and found faecal bacteria in every boot it tested. That is why seats and carpets deserve more than a surface wipe.
Why does the car AC smell musty?
A musty or sour smell from the vents usually comes from mould and bacteria growing inside the air conditioning system. Researchers who examined AC units from cars with odour complaints found mixed colonies of fungi and bacteria on the components.
Cleaning the seats does not reach that source. For example, a spotless cabin can still smell stale the moment the AC starts. In that case, the AC system and its cabin filter need attention too.
Can leather seats be steam cleaned?
Only very carefully. Heavy steam and harsh cleaners strip natural oils from leather, which leads to drying and cracking in the Abu Dhabi heat.
Leather is cleaned with a pH-neutral product and a soft brush, then conditioned and left to dry in the shade. Seats that are already cracked need repair rather than cleaning, which our upholstery repair page explains.
How are sand and pet hair removed?
Compressed air clears sand from seams and from under the seats, where a vacuum nozzle cannot reach. Left in place, sand grinds against carpet fibres every time someone gets in.
Pet hair weaves itself into fabric, so rubber brushes and specialised tools lift it before vacuuming. For example, a family car after a weekend at the beach often needs twice the usual time on the carpets alone.
Is ozone treatment safe for your car?
It is safe only when nobody is inside. Ozone breaks down odour molecules, but it also irritates the lungs, so the car stays empty during treatment and is aired out completely afterwards.
Ozone is most effective after the source of a smell has been removed. Spilled milk, vomit or pet accidents need an enzyme cleaner first, because enzymes break down the residue that causes the odour.
What sets the price of interior detailing?
Cost reflects the car’s size, its condition, and any heavy stains, smells or pet hair. A lightly used saloon takes much less time than a seven-seat family car. Interior detailing starts from AED 650 for a sedan.
Cars with a sagging roof fabric need roof lining repair rather than cleaning, because the problem is failed foam, not dirt.
How do you keep a car interior clean for longer?
- Shake out the floor mats every week, before sand works its way into the carpet underneath.
- Wipe up spills immediately, especially milk and sugary drinks, which smell as they spoil in the heat.
- Use a windscreen sunshade to slow fading and cracking on the dashboard and leather.
- Replace the cabin air filter on schedule, because a clogged filter adds dust and stale smells.
How long do seats take to dry after cleaning?
Extracted fabric seats usually dry within a few hours, and fastest with strong airflow and warm weather. Leather and plastics are ready almost immediately.
Can every stain be removed?
Most fresh stains come out completely. Old ink, dye transfer from jeans and bleach marks may only fade, because they have changed the colour of the material itself.
How often should a car interior be deep cleaned?
There is no fixed rule. Families, pet owners and frequent beach visitors need it more often than someone who commutes alone.
Is deep cleaning safe for screens and electronics?
Yes, when moisture is kept away from them. Screens, switches and speakers are cleaned with a barely damp microfibre cloth, never sprayed directly.
